The 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will soon have one more signature piece of music as Country star Steve Azar has written and is in the process of recording the official song of the Championships.
Entitled “Fly”, the song is scheduled to be recorded in Nashville at the end of July and will feature members of the Nashville Symphony, along with Azar’s band. Fly is slated for worldwide release via all digital outlets on October 25, which marks 100 days until the world returns to Vail and Beaver Creek.
“A song writes itself if you let it,” says Azar. “You just have to allow the inspiration to soak in and then just get out of its way. Fly, even though it took only a few hours to write, started its journey from the first time I met my friends at the Vail Valley Foundation some eight years ago, as well as all the legends of skiing I’ve gotten to know along the way. As a songwriter, I hope to have captured the feeling as well as inspire the skiers getting prepared to fly down that mountain”.
Azar is a modern day renaissance man, hit songwriter, recording artist, music producer, golfer and philanthropist. He calls his own breed of music “Delta Soul,” a mixture of country, rock and blues. Watch video here
